Today I would like to ask for prayers specifically for Julie. Julie underwent the same surgery as I had on my ankle (yesterday at 12:30pm). I have not heard how she is doing, but ask for prayers for fast healing and manageable pain.
On another note:
This is what my ankle looks like after we remove the packing yesterday. I am still having quite a bit of pain along the wound and the back of my ankle. I also ended up having a cortisone shot in my right shoulder. I am still waiting for it to work. It can take up to 3 days, so I should be getting some relief by tomorrow. I hope. :)

  3. Thank you so much for prayers. Just a quick update, surgery went well on friday, apparently it was worse then he thought and the tendon was almost torn in half and would not have healed without surgery. I have a cast up to my knee and cannot do any weight baring for 2 weeks.

we are having some issues managing pain at this point. I thought I would be drugged and have no pain, silly me.
thank you for prayers. I will continue to keep you updated.

  4. Okay, very drugged up here. I thought the meds would completely take away pain, well as I just got off the phone with a nurse they take a way alot of the pain but not all. YOUCH! For some reason the back of my ankle is killing me. I did not think they did anything back there but it hurts.
I should have lost the weight before having this surgery, now I am like a beached whale and it is no fun. Plus I have to eat constantly to take my meds. I am trying to function in a sitting postison today but so much is a blurr?? Like I would love to read butI cannot follow what is going on. It is taking me every ounce of brain to type this to you. I have to go back and re read your posts, was there all this pain AFTER surgery?

  5. Kimberly, I will be praying for you today (during your surgery). Remember you are in God's Hands and these are the best! :)

Julie, What pain meds are you on? One thing I learned pretty quick was to take the meds every 4 hours...not a minute past or you will have a hard time controlling the pain. I too still have pain in the heel area. Try to remember that all those nerves and tendons are heightened. It will get better. Also, use an ice pack, even if you don't like the feeling. It deadens the pain some. I will keep you both in my prayers. Keep me posted.
    Hugs from NC, Janice

  6. Hi Janice and Julie,
Surgery was sucessful and a pretty good experience overall. It did not look like crab meat apparently but does look like a normal tendon now. My dad came up to WA from Oregon and drove me back down here to taken care of my aunt, step-mom and father. (My long-term boyfriend and I broke up two weeks ago and I live alone). We have to go back to Seattle on Monday for the five day check up and then I think we are back here for another week or so. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have their help--I feel very blessed. It's so hard not to be able to do anything myself and the bathroom although close by seems so far away. I am taking my percocett, and Julie, like you, I noticed the pain doesn't go all the way away. I can very much feel my ankle. Instead of putting on a regular cast theyput on an air-cast.

    Warm thoughts to you both,

    Kimberly
PS-Janice, have any plans to go the doctor this week? How are you healing?

  7. Hey Kimberly & Julie, Kimberly,I am glad your dad is with you to help. Don't let the pain break thru that 4 hour limit. Take the pain meds. If you take them consistently, you will have better pain management. If you can get a slim ice pack down inside your cast, that will help too. Even if it doesn't end-up anywhere near the incision. I see the doc next week. We are packing about 1/2 inch of stuff in my wound, down from 6 1/2 inches, so it is healing. Blessings to you both, Janice

  8. So, how is Julie now, Janice? I think she had recovered well after the surgery 5 years ago. Well, she still needs to maintain her exercise regimen to make her body physical fit, especially her knees. Same as to you to, as you've also gone through surgery as well. Take care always!
